The Diamondbacks were one of those teams that needed just a few extra pieces to be able to compete in the NL West last year. This year I think they may have found the pieces they needed. The D-Backs started the off-season by adding Mark Trumbo. Trumbo has been somewhat of a utility player for the Angels the last couple years swapping from 1B, to DH, and the outfield positions. Right now Trumbo should help back up Paul Goldschmidt in the lineup, and then should help himself in the home run friendly park of Chase Field. Then right before spring training the D-Backs went out and signed SP Bronson Arroyo to a multi-year contract. Arroyo is coming from the Reds where he played great in a hitter friendly park of Great American Ball Park. Arroyo should help this young and developing pitching rotation of the D-Backs. The D-Backs can also look forward to their No. 1 Prospect Archie Bradley making his debut at some point in the 2014 season. The D-Backs are a good team, but are they a great team? That remains to be seen.
