Took a bye week last week due to fall break. Here are our updated standings.
Caleb 25-5 (.833)
Cory 24-6 (.800)
Carter 22-8 (.733)
Here's this weeks picks.
No. 10 Texas Tech at No. 15 Oklahoma
The Red Raiders fly into Norman as a bit of underrated top ten team. Texas Tech hasn't faced a true test up until this point, but have been dominant and have put away all their previous opponents up until this point. Oklahoma's lone blemish is Texas, and other than their play against the Longhorns they have played pretty well. Look for this game to come down to which defense can make plays against these tough offenses.
Caleb's Pick- Oklahoma 31, Texas Tech 27
Carter's Pick- Oklahoma 55, Texas Tech 51
Cory's Pick- Oklahoma 38, Texas Tech 35
Duke at No. 14 Virginia Tech
The Hokies are flying high after an impressive 6-1 start, their only loss coming to No.1 Alabama. Virginia Tech's defense has played dominant and their offense is finally starting to play more consistent. Duke has flown under the radar and is quietly a solid 5-2 so far this year. The Blue Devils should give the Hokies a good test and keep them honest before the Hokies meet up with Miami in two weeks.
Caleb's Pick- Virginia Tech 28, Duke 17
Carter's Pick- Virginia Tech 34, Duke 24
Cory's Pick- Virginia Tech 24, Duke 7
No. 21 South Carolina at No. 5 Missouri
The Gamecocks couldn't manage to get by Tennessee last week and have now given Missouri a two-game advantage in the SEC East. The Tigers have beaten Georgia and Florida in consecutive weeks, and will look to add South Carolina to that list to all but clinch the East. The Gamecocks will be shorthanded and one-dimensional with QB Connor Shaw out for the game, so look for Missouri to capitalize on yet another depleted SEC East foe.
Caleb's Pick- Missouri 35, South Carolina 24
Carter's Pick- Missouri 34, South Carolina 28
Cory's Pick- Missouri 45, South Carolina 28
No. 12 UCLA at No. 3 Oregon
The key word in this game is offense. Both of these teams have explosive offenses, and can light up the scoreboard without even thinking at times. QB's Brett Hundley and Marcus Mariota are elite future NFL QBs, and will look to boost their stock with this marquee game. This game will come down to the wire, and I believe Oregon's defense is very underrated on a team who's offense takes most of the focus.
Caleb's Pick- Oregon 42, UCLA 28
Carter's Pick- Oregon 48, UCLA 24
Cory's Pick- Oregon 48, UCLA 24
Penn State at No. 4 Ohio State
The Nittany Lions continue to play well under Head Coach Bill O'Brien, but now face a huge test on the road at Ohio State. The Buckeyes remain unbeaten, but have experienced some tests this season. Both Northwestern and Wisconsin pushed the Buckeyes around, but couldn't pull off the win in the end. Look for this one to fit the same bill, with Ohio State winning in the end
Caleb's Pick- Ohio State 35, Penn State 31
Carter's Pick- Ohio State 31, Penn State 24
Cory's Pick- Ohio State 32, Penn State 17
No. 6 Stanford at No. 25 Oregon State
"The nation's leading passer Sean Mannion and the Beavers of Oregon State look to continue their hot-streak against the Stanford Cardinal in Corvallis Saturday". Did the opening line sound too generic? Good, because you should expect the same of this game come Saturday. This is your typical match-up of two teams, where one is run first (Stanford), and the other is pass first (Oregon State). Both teams execute two very different game plans, but somehow find a way to win. Their only similarity is that both of these team are very good at stopping the run. With that being said, look for the team who can stop the pass to win the game.
Caleb's Pick- Oregon State 38, Stanford 35
Carter's Pick- Stanford 45, Oregon State 38
Cory's Pick- Stanford 24, Oregon State 10
