We're starting to approach summer, and unless your a die hard baseball fan (which I am) you're probably looking ahead to the college football season to start. So starting now I figured we'd take a look at some match-ups we'd all like to see a some point in the future.
1. Oregon vs. Alabama
I think we can all agree this is the match-up we all wanted to see back in January. No offense to Notre Dame, I just think it would've been nice to see a competitive game instead of the absolute beat down that took place down in south Florida. Just think of the match-up, Oregon's high octane offense vs Alabama's NFL caliber defense, the thought of it just gives me goosebumps already. Hopefully Nick Saban can make this happen soon.
2. Ohio State vs. Florida
I don't think that there is one player on Florida's team that couldn't get fired up for this match-up. After "going into retirement" three years ago, Urban Meyer left Florida to spend some more time with his family. Then after a brief stint as a college football analyst for ESPN, Meyer came out of retirement to take over Ohio State's head coaching position. Not only did his former Florida players feel abandoned and betrayed, but they also had to feel even more upset when Meyer's Buckeyes went 12-0 last season. This one should make a good match-up for the Urban Meyer connection, but also for the fact that both Florida and Ohio State are elite teams in college football.
3, Texas vs. Texas A&M
These two former Big 12 rivals just need to their differences aside and continue their rivalry. When the Aggies moved to the SEC last season it caused the end of a rivalry that dates back to 1894. Word on the street is that Texas A&M would be willing to restart the series, but that Texas doesn't want to because they'd have to face an SEC caliber team every season. Regardless of the reasons these teams just need to start playing again, simply put it would not only benefit both teams, but it would also benefit college football as a whole.
4. USC vs. Tennessee
Anyone that has kept up with college football over the last 5 years knows why all Vols fans would love to see this match-up. After Lane Kiffin bolted Tennessee for USC back in January of 2010 there has been a constant hatred for the man in the state. Kiffin not only did Vols fans wrong, but he also rubbed almost everyone in the SEC the wrong way. We all know how SEC fans get about supporting their teams during bowl season, well just imagine the same thing if the Vols were to take on USC with Kiffin on the Trojans sideline.
5. TCU vs. Notre Dame
Now I know that this isn't a marquee match-up like the previous four, but it is interesting in the sense of it would be another battle of Protestants vs Catholics. Dating back to when Martin Luther rebelled against the Catholic church in the 1500s, this is a match-up that would have a lot more on the line than just football, it would also give Protestants and Catholics one more thing to argue about. On the football side it wouldn't mean much, TCU and Notre Dame have only met one time in the past, and that ended in a 21-0 win for Notre Dame back in 1972. So when you look at it from the football side the match-up makes no sense, but when you see the history from the religious aspect, things become a
